Wunderfest Deluxe Slot Review
Germany, the land of sausages, good beer and lederhosen. What’s not to like? Well, what’s not to like excluding the years 1914 - 1919 and 1939 - 1945, those were a bit dodgy. Nowadays, Germany seems to be filled with hard-drinking, pretzel loving, tight-pants-wearing blonde bimbos. I’ve never been to Germany, primarily because I’m Jewish and my grandmother always told me never to trust a Kraut. That being said, I’ve got nothing against Germans or Germany, in fact, I think we have a lot in common! I too like beer, big sausages, and tight pants although not necessarily all at once.
Wunderfest Deluxe is a 5-reel, 25-payline slot powered by software from Booming Games. This slot packs a lot of punch, with loads of German-themed symbols this one is sure to get you in the spirit of Oktoberfest. Two beer-filled mugs act as the Wild, while a keg of beer represents the Scatter. Other symbols include a hat, an accordion, sausages, pretzels, a fetching German lady holding two beer mugs, and her male counterpart. All of these serve to get you in the mood for a beer-drinking contest, so make sure you fill up on some German-themed snacks before you settle in for this one. If you’ve played a Booming Games slot before, you should be pretty familiar with the controls. With that being said, I understand what having one too many beers under your belt can do so I’ll run through them. From left to right: Information button, lines, total bet toggle, Auto Play, Spin, Bet Max, Music and Sound toggle. All are easily accessible, and located just beneath the reels.
Like most slots, you’ll find the Wild feature pretty useful. The symbol can take the place of all the basic symbols, aside from the scatter, and form part of a winning payline. However, it can also do some damage on its own. Landing 5 of these bad boys will award you with a payout of 1000 coins - just don’t spend it all on beer and sausages. Upon landing 3 Scatters, you’ll trigger 10 Free Spins. Unfortunately, they can’t be re-triggered but don’t let that spoil your mood.
Wunderfest Deluxe features Vertical Multiplying Paylines. This means that each payline corresponds to a different reel, and awards you for landing the same symbol in all three positions. Vertical reels pay 3x more the usual amount, so expect to win even more cash to spend on Oktoberfest trinkets.
Booming Games know how to build a slot - that isn’t a secret anymore. Even so, I was entirely taken by this game. The soundtrack is silly, German-style goodness, the graphics are almost scarily good, and it performed well on every device I tried it on. Talk about that German engineering, amirite?
Overall, Wunderfest Deluxe offers something not a lot of slots do these days: Good, old-fashioned, silliness. This is a good thing because a lot of game developers are taking themselves too seriously. Booming Games recognized that basing a slot on Oktoberfest would have to be kind of silly, and that’s why it works. So, would I recommend it? Hell yeah! Even if you’re not a beer-loving, sausage-eating, lederhosen-wearing German, you’ll enjoy it - I know I did.
